5th Annual Michaelmas Pilgrimage
Traditional Mass offered at Cherokee Village Arkansas
The 5th Annual Michaelmas Pilgrimage, sponsored by St. John the Baptist Chapter of Una Voce Arkansas Ozarks and St. Michael’s Catholic Church, will be held this coming weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 30th -October 2nd.
On Friday evening, September 30th, the pilgrimage weekend will begin with a Traditional Latin Mass offered at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Cherokee Village, Arkansas at 7PM. Confessions are heard half an hour before Holy Mass and on Saturday evenings at 7PM.
The Michaelmas Pilgrimage March will begin on Saturday morning, October 1st, at 8AM from the Shrine of St. Philomena in Star of the Sea Village and will proceed along the five mile route to St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Cherokee Village where a Solemn High Mass will be offered at 10:30AM. The Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP), will be sending a deacon and subdeacon from the Seminary of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Denton, Nebraska for the Michaelmas Pilgrimage Weekend and the Solemn High Mass. For complete pilgrimage information, see the Star of the Sea Village Website. http://.staroftheseavillage.com/pages/4/index.htm
There will be a “Soup and Fixins’ Potluck” following the Solemn High Mass on Saturday, the 1st of October. Lunch will be provided for out of town guests. Those living locally are asked to please bring soup and accompaniments for the soup, i.e. chips and sour cream for chili, bread & cheese with pea or lentil soup, etc., sufficient for your party and five to ten out-of-town guests.
The annual Life Chain will be held after the Saturday potluck in downtown Hardy, AR at 2PM.
On Sunday, October 2nd, the celebration of St. Michael’s Feastday will continue with the Latin Mass offered at 11AM, a celebratory parish potluck dinner immediately following in the parish hall, and the play “La Madre”, based on the life of St. Teresa of Avila, performed from 2-5PM. For the Sunday potluck, you are asked to please bring a side dish, salad, or dessert to share. Meat will be provided. The young cast members have been working very hard all summer to offer this presentation of “La Madre” for the feastday and it promises to be excellent.
Accomodations information and directions are available at http://www.staroftheseavillage.com /pages/16/index.htm..
