Catholics in central California will have an opportunity to learn the what, why, and how of the Traditional Latin Mass in a half-day workshop on Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 15, 2010. Fr. Matthew McNeely, FSSP, will help Catholics understand the form, structure, and spirituality of the Latin Mass in a workshop entitled Latin Mass 101: A Workshop for Curious Catholics. His Excellency Bishop Salvatore Cordileone will ordain the Rev. Mr. Jose Zepeda, F.S.S.P to the Holy Priesthood on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 11 AM. The ordination Mass will be celebrated according to the 1962 missal at St. Jarlath Church, 2620 Pleasant Street (off Highway 580) in Oakland, California.
After Mass, the Zepeda family will graciously host a reception. Members of St. Stephen the First Martyr Parish (the FSSP apostolate in Sacramento) will assist with cooking and other preparations. If you plan to attend the reception, RSVP to Tish Gallagher at 916-223-3112.

On Sunday, December 6 at 2:00 p.m., there will be a Solemn High Latin Mass at Holy Spirit Church in Lantana, Florida. The parish has offered a weekly Mass in the Extraordinary Form since September 2009. The December 6 Mass, which marks the second Sunday of Advent, will be celebrated by Fr. The Gregorian chant of the Tridentine Mass filled the Blessed Sacrament Chapel of St. Peter’s Basilica Oct. 18 as U.S. Archbishop Raymond L. Burke, head of the Vatican’s highest court, celebrated a pontifical high Mass.

One year after its official designation as a personal parish for the Latin Mass, St. Anne’s Church in San Diego has responded to increased attendance by adding a fourth Sunday Mass. Catholics in San Diego may now attend a Low Mass at 6:00 PM, in addition to Low Masses at 7:30 AM and 12:00 PM and a High Mass at 10:00 AM. The parish is served by Fr.
